Wow! Its been a whole freaking year. As I look back on the last 365 days I feel overwhelmed yet accomplished. What a year this has been!
Let’s rewind…
My body took a hit mentally and physically in the last few days in 2014. Not only did I go through the strenuous process of selling our home in less than a month, my husband was diagnosed with a serious illness and my cousin was murdered during the holidays. As much as I wanted to quit and give up, I was determined to use my anger and sadness as motivation. After my husband’s diagnosis we decided to live a more purposeful life. Although circumstances tried to break me, nothing was going to stop my plan, my mission!
My stress was at an all time high on moving day. Everything finally hit me once I got on the plane. I had one of the worst migraines in my life that day. My sons first plane ride he spent taking care of mommy 😦 Getting off the plane we had like 10 bags between two and a half people. I was wheeled out in a wherlchair so you really shouldnt count me. (Thank God for airport workers!)
The first month in Cali we spent looking for a place to live and sightseeing. We planned this time to be used a vacation and exploration of our new home state. We rented a storage unit near our first hotel to store the items we did not need to lug around with us all month. We ended up staying at about 5 different hotels in cities all over Southern California. Thankfully, both my husband and I had income and savings during this time.
Of all the places we stayed we did not feel as “at home” like we did here. California is a beautiful state and I’m sure esthetically we couldnt have made a bad choice. We choose our location based on pure intuition. While staying in the last hotel we stopped for lunch on the main road nearby. After eating we drove by an apartment complex that had flags waving with a sign that read “XL patios, 2 spas, 2 pools, & a Gym” we decidedly to check it out.
After some major interjections from our spirit guides we were approved for the apartment and moved in the same day. Which meant no more hotels! However, it also meant we were starting all over, sleeping on the floor, and away from friends and family.
We hit many financial roadblocks due to the relocation and to be honest, we are still catching up. I’ve learned to live my life minimally and simplistically. We still haven’t gotten a microwave and probably won’t anytime soon. But our furniture, appliances, and toys have all been replaced. But we decided a while ago -home is where we are!
We are happier and closer than ever. Life has meaning and is filled with joy. More travel is on the forecast for us in 2016. We have plans to get our son a passport so the sky is truly the limit.
As we are hours away from the New Year and I sit and to write in my new planner, I wonder, what can happen this year?
I guess I better be careful what I plan for…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
DREAM, ACHIEVE, & REPEAT 💫
